How do I teach my pet dog to howl?
She howls outside at sirens, but not inside. I have a cd of wolves howling, and she’s interested in it, but won’t return their howls. She usually trains very easily but I can’t elicit the desired behavior to reinforce it.
She is my therapy dog, so it would be so cool if she would howl on command!
I trained my German Shepherd to howl whenever I called him Werewolf. It was quite fun. Here is how you do it.
Get a recording of a siren. Play it. When he howls say the command you want & praise him or give him a treat. What ever his motivation is. When he is howling as soon as you play the siren start to say the word first. Then say the word with no siren.
