Service Dogs and the Law
I am a seminary for the training that I am a member. The person who is in the next, has a Dog and service in the cabin of the plane to fly with her. When I called the hotel to book her, they said that they do not accept dogs and service have not because they a privately owned franchise and make it to their own rules …. Is that true? I thought every motel was accepted to a service dog? This made me really angry because we have used this hotel many times to set up judges / guests in the past. Your opinion, please Thanks for the info. Animal … You make a good point
It does not matter whether it is a chain, or private. If the hotel in the U.S., it falls under the ADA. "Place of public accommodation is a facility operated within a private company, whose activities affect commerce and fall at least one of the following categories – (1) An inn, hotel, motel or other place of accommodation, other than to operate as a seat inside a building, not five rooms for rent or hire and is actually occupied by the proprietor of the establishment owner of the residence, "28 CFR 36.104 (http://www.ada.gov/reg3a.html) you can call to them, the U.S. Department of 800 – 514-0301 (a toll call). I would suggest giving them a letter and requested a written response. Granted, it can not be fast enough for your current situation, but you would do to meet a service for all future teams for these people. As soon as your answer in written form, forward it to the U.S. Department of Justice (I have the phone number used to be given the address for sending a complaint). A little less than the DOJ Appeals and asked them what their SD policies can be a sufficient wake-up call for them is changing its tune for the future.
